William “Bill” Wilson, 65, of Soddy-Daisy passed away Sunday, April 3, 2011 at his home. He was a member of Flat Top Independent Church. He was a Vietnam Veteran with the U.S. Army serving with the101st Air Borne Division as a helicopter crew chief and door gunner. While in the service he received the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and many other awards. He was an avid classic car enthusiast, amateur softball player, and avid hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reecie and Maude Wilson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Nancye Hughes Wilson, daughters, Stacye (Jeremy) Gibson of Soddy-Daisy, Tiana (Travis) Rucker of Charleston, WV., brothers, Bob (Jimmie Ruth) Wilson of Soddy-Daisy, Bruce (Elinda) Wilson of Sanford, FL., Shirley (Terry) Curvin of Soddy-Daisy, Beverly (Bob) Hughes of Summerville, SC., in-laws, Colleen and Leon Hughes, grandchildren, Shavannah, and Gus Gibson, Kyleigh, Keelin, and Will Rucker, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Mark Harwood and the Rev. Travis Rucker officiating. Interment will follow the service at Bowman Cemetery with military honors. Family will receive friends from 2-9 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
