Patsy Ruth Wallace Hensley, 90, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2016, at home. She was an active member of Daisy First Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday School class which she also taught. She sang in the choir with her highly trained operatic voice. She graduated from Soddy-Daisy High School in 1944 where she was a member of the Beta Club. She attended the University of Chattanooga, studied music and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She was a graduate of Oklahoma College for Women where she trained in voice and opera, earning a BA in Music in 1949. She then studied at UTC and earned her teaching credentials in 1969. She taught Music, English, and served as Chorus Director at Soddy-Daisy Junior High School, where she retired in 1986. Her well trained, soprano and operatic voice will be sincerely missed. Post retirement, she traveled the country from coast to coast as well as Mexico and Canada in an Airstream with her husband, Bill. She was a member of the International Airstream Club (WBCCI – TCPC), as well as the Daisy Women’s Club, and the Golden Agers. She greatly enjoyed hosting her 10 grandchildren with annual get-together’s in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. She also enjoyed hosting and cooking for her entire family including her 6 great grandchildren every Christmas leaving them with many happy memories. She had a special love for children and surely is now serving the children in Heaven and singing with the angels.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, William George Hensley; sister, Martha Kay Wallace of Columbus, Ohio; five daughters and sons-in-law; Ann (Adel) Sarraffzadeh of Santa Cruz, CA; Lynn (Kirk) Rau of Soddy-Daisy; Mary (Bob) Baker of Springfield, TN; Libby (Billy) Branch of Ellijay, GA; Laura (Brad) Snyder of Soddy-Daisy; 10 grandchildren, Solmaaz Sarraffzadeh (Weston) Rowan; Sahmeen Sarraffzadeh; Heidi Rau (Adam) Foster; Stephen Rau; Mitchell (Karen) Baker; Jeremy Baker; Phillip Branch; George (Emily) Branch; Claire Branch; Raven Snyder; 6 great grandchildren; Layla Robinson, Laurel Foster, Hensley Baker, Elsie Baker, William Snyder, Melanie Snyder; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, May 9, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Soddy-Daisy with Rev. Seton Tomyn officiating. Visitation is from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, May 8, 2016, at the funeral home.
