Douglas Bruce “Doug” Suddeth, Sr., 71, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014. He was born in Chattanooga and moved to Soddy-Daisy in 1973. Doug served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from Colonial Bakery after 28 years and worked at the Wal-Mart in Soddy-Daisy for 4 years. Doug was well known and loved to hang around Jeff’s Barber Shop in Soddy. His Saturday mornings where often spent on Flea Market Hill. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Ricky D. “Poss” Elsea, Jr.; parents, James Suddeth and Lillian Adair; brother, Charles Suddeth; sister, Edna Ruth Jones and niece, Pamela Feltman.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Theresa “Tee” Suddeth; sons, Douglas Bruce Suddeth, Jr. (Lanna) and Charles Wayne Suddeth; daughter, Lynn Crawley (Larry, Jr.); brothers, Donald Suddeth (Linda) and David Suddeth (Opal); sister, Elizabeth Benavente (Benny); grandchildren, Alisha Watts, Jesse Suddeth, Devon Suddeth and Kesha Smith, Dustan Crawley, Spencer and Chase; great grandchildren, Kaylee McCabe, Sierra McCabe, Corbin Elsea, Cody, Sienna and Harmony; special cousins, Patsy Conner and Sheila Stencil.
Services will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Calvin Nunley, Chaplain Ricky and Rev. Benny Douglas officiating. Burial will follow at Union Fork Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
