  [S16] Obituary. November 8, 1940 - August 8, 2011 John Ray Carlton John Ray Carlton, 70, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2011. He was a strong man of God who loved people and collected friends. Ray was a member of Stuart Heights Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. A former employee of Bethel Bible Village Child Care, he was currently employed with Wal-Mart in Hixson. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Clell and Leola Carlton; brother, Charles T. Carlton, Sr. and sister, Dean Prevatt. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Rebecca Johnson Carlton; son, Wesley Carlton of Soddy-Daisy; daughter, Christy Carlton of Soddy-Daisy; sisters, Fay Gordon of Valdosta, GA and Carolyn Palmer of Thomasville along with several nieces and nephews. Services will be Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Visitation is from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be Friday, August 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Big Ochlocknee Cemetery in Ochlocknee, Georgia.
