Rosevelyn Varner
Rosevelyn Cox Varner, 85, of Soddy-Daisy, died on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, in Huntsville, Ala.
Our beloved "Nana" was born July 24, 1924 to the late Bertha Faye Headley Cox and Harvey Barton Cox. After spending most of her childhood in Doctor's Inlet Florida, she relocated to the Soddy-Daisy area where she married the late James Ralph Varner. She was a familiar face at Soddy-Daisy Middle School where she was the bookkeeper for many years. Mrs. Varner was an active member of First Baptist Church of Soddy-Daisy until her recent relocation to Huntsville.
In addition to her husband of 47 years, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lela Faye Varner Malone; her parents and two brothers, Harvey Barton Cox II and Thomas Eugene Cox.
Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly Varner Reisenwitz, of Huntsville, Ala.; grandchildren, Lauri Smit, Tami Malone and Meghan Malone, of Austin, Texas, Hillary Bishop, Haley Hash and Evelyn Reisenwitz, of Huntsville, Ala. and Cathy Sullivan, of Birmingham, Ala.; great-grandchildren, Evan Creech, Leland and Landri Smit along with several nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at the funeral home chapel with Dr. Seton Tomyn officiating.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Chattanooga Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
