Penney - George W., 93, of 3307 Lamar Ave., Red Bank, Tennessee diedin a Chattanooga hospital Monday afternoon after a lingering illness. Hewas the son of the late George W. and Polly Jane Martin Penney, pioneersettlers of North Hamilton County. He was a retired farmer and a memberof the Middle Valley Church of God and of Soddy Masonic Lodge No. 418F&AM. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nancy J. Penney, Red Bank; two sons,John L. Chattanooga; Mose Penney, Soddy; two daughters, Mrs. JamesMayberry, Red Bank; Mrs. Frances Clift, Red Bank; 12 grandchildren and 17great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday from the chapel of the funeralhome with the Reverends L. W. Ledbetter, A. C. Johnson, and Lloyd Brownofficiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton County Memorial ParkCemetery. Active pallbearers will be Robert Penney, Ralph Penney, HaroldPenney, Robert Cope, Bobby Clift and Larry Clift. Honorary pallbearerswill be Ralph Baxter, Ollie Porter, Frank Penney, Clarence Webb, LawrenceHunter, Herbert Clift and John Walker. Soddy Masonic Lodge No. 418 F&AMwill have charge of the services at the grave. The body will remain atthe funeral home. Arrangements by Williamson-Garrison, Highway 27, Daisy.
