John Thomas “Johntom” Swafford, 62, of Sale Creek, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2016. He was a member of East Daisy Church of God. Growing up in Pikeville, he enjoyed farming right alongside his beloved father. Mr. Swafford was the owner/operator of Swafford Construction and was in the trucking business for 36 years. A hard working man, he enjoyed spending time with his family more than anything. He loved the Lord and going to church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Swafford and Fannie Neal Swafford; sister, Elsie Swafford Sharp and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dorothy and Willie Boggs.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Mickey Sharon Boggs Swafford; son, Bruce Duff (Christy); daughters, Tammy Carroll (Tony), Tonya Cooke (David) and Tabatha Swafford White (David); brother, Walter Perry Swafford (Sandy); sisters, Margaret Warren (Ed), Wilma Hall and Nancy Swafford; grandchildren, Meagan Cooke Ellison (Curtis), Matalie Cooke, Sarah Elizabeth Carroll, Israel Kaleb Duff and Elijah Peyton Duff; great grandchild, Addalayee Nicole Cooke; many nieces and nephews and his beloved dogs, Trooper, Chase, Sooner and Moonshadow.
Services will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Bishop Jackie Penney officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
