John Arthur Patterson, 74, of Hixson passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016. John was a member of Sequoyah Baptist Tabernacle and a 32nd degree Mason member of Daisy Lodge #706. John also volunteered his time as a girls fast pitch coach for 40 + years throughout the community, and he was a past board member of the Girls Softball Association.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lethia (Rogers) York; his father, Forest C. Patterson; step-mother, Eula Mae (Burton) Patterson; and sister, Beverly Meade.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Kay Patterson; children, Angela (Jack) Stratton, Ann Ivey, John Patterson; two grandchildren, Braxton and Kaytlin Stratton; brothers, Gary (Susan) Patterson, Patrick (Allison) Patterson, Rex (Joy) Evans; sister, Wanda Harris; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Brother David Stancil and Pastor Brooks Green officiating with a masonic service following. Interment will follow in McInturff Cemetery in Birchwood, Tennessee. Visitation is 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 19, and from 11:00 A.M until the time of service on Wednesday, July 20, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Sequoyah Baptist Tabernacle, 8405 Daisy Dallas Road, Hixson, TN 37343.
