Frances G. Chapman, of Soddy-Daisy, affectionately known as Granny, 83, passed away early Saturday morning, March 14, 2015. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and worked as a registered nurse in many of the local hospitals. During her career she also served in administration of several nursing home facilities and sat on the Tennessee State Board of Geriatrics. Frances was an avid seamstress, artist, cook and gardener.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Willie P. Chapman, Jr.; her brother, Tom Gates; and her grandson, Brenton Sanders. She is survived by her brother Fred Gates and her children, Kate and Chuck Sanders, Tim and Sharon Chapman, Dan and Leasty Chapman, Mike and Debbie Chapman, Joe and Nina Chapman, and Rebecca Chapman. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jason, Elise, Katherine, Chase, Krissy, Hannah, Brett, Dianna; four great-grandchildren; and her more recent family of Tina Gross.
The family would like to express their thanks to the following for their care and compassion: Rita, Marti and Gwen of Manorhouse; and Jennifer, Cheree, and Pam of Hospice of Chattanooga. The family is extremely grateful to Kim Walker and her caregivers, especially Tina and Michelle.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 16, from 3 to 4 at Williamson and Sons Funeral Home in Soddy Daisy. Service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 4:00 p.m. being presided by Rev. Braxton Cotton. In lieu of flowers donations to the Chattanooga Humane Society and Hospice of Chattanooga would be appreciated.
