Howard "Butch" Rogers, Jr., 67 of Soddy Daisy died Friday, May 24, 2013 at his residence. He was retired from the Hamilton Co. Department of Education after 28 years of service, having taught at Sequoyah Vocational High School. Butch was a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran and a member of Hixson United Methodist Church and the Joe Prince Sunday School Class. He enjoyed woodworking, boating, but especially his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Madge Rogers, and a brother, Samuel Rogers.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Rogers; daughters, April (Andrew) Orman, Jessica (Jadon) Smith; granddaughters, Macey Caylene, Madison Riley, Savannah Lee, and Shelby Lavender Orman, all of Soddy Daisy; and brother, Carlton Rogers of Signal Mountain.
Memorial services will be held at Hixson United Methodist Church at 7 P.M. Tuesday, May 28, 2013 with Rev. Reed Shell and Rev. Paul Longmire officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
