  [S16] Obituary. March 2, 1937 - February 13, 2013 Chester William Smith, 75 of Soddy-Daisy, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Chester grew up in Soddy-Daisy where he played basketball at Soddy-Daisy High School. He attended Tennessee Weselyn college and later graduated from MTSU with a degree in Communications. He began his career in advertising in Chattanooga at WDOD and later at WTVC, Channel 9. He later worked at John Michael Enterprises where he retired. He loved his family and friends and UT Football only when they won. He was an avid sports fan and loved basketball and football. He loved his dogs Nicole, Phoebe, and Little Bit and was always rescuing any stray. He never met a stranger and was always ready to entertain and BBQ with friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Jessie Oldham Smith (Gertie), his Mother and Father Gertie L. (Stewart) Smith and Charlie W. Smith of Soddy-Daisy. He is survived by his daughters Cheryl S. Buckles (Randy), Debbie S. Matthew (Ronnie), grandchildren Chelsea Penney and Robbie Matthew; brother Cecil Smith, sisters Brenda Smith and Wanda Skiles(Clyde); numerous nieces and nephews. Celebration of Life Services will be at 12:00 noon Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Everett Gossett & Rev. Don Jones Officiating. Internment will follow services at Hamilton County Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 5-9 pm Friday at the funeral home.
