James Kent “Ken” Hankins, 63, a lifelong resident of Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, passed away Friday, August 24, 2012. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather. Ken retired from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga Police Department and from Plumbers & Steamfitters Local No. 43. He attended Guiding Light Church. Two of his passions were fishing and rabbit hunting.
His parents, James & Sarah Hankins and a brother, Glen Hankins, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of forty three years, Edna Scates Hankins; son, Louis Kent (Patricia) Hankins; daughter, Sabrina Denise (Greg) Hanley; brothers, David Hankins of Harrison, TN, Donald Hankins of Dayton, TN, Johnny (June) Hankins of Soddy-Daisy, TN, Ronnie (Gail) Hankins of Soddy-Daisy, TN; sisters, Sharon Hankins of Soddy-Daisy, TN, Darla (George) Lawson of Soddy-Daisy, TN, Karla (Harold) Edmonds of Dayton, TN; six grandchildren, Whitney, Kristen, Glenn, Hartley, Hunter and Abby; three great-grandchildren, Braydun, Emily and Kolten and many nieces & nephews.
Ken’s family would like to offer a special thanks to, Caris Hospice, especially, Carrie Revis and to Amedysis’ Nurse Kelly.
The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 27, 2012, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home, with Brother Jason Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. TO 9:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be, George Lawson, Greg Hanley, Ronnie Hankins, Glen Hanley, Emmitt Scates and Michael Scates.
