  [S16] Obituary. August 20, 1938 - August 15, 2011 Walter E. Vinson, Sr., 72, of Soddy-Daisy passed away Monday, August 15, 2011 at his home. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving his country from 1955 to 1959. He retired from TVA in 1994 and was a member of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers Union #1458. He was a member in good standing with the Daisy Masonic Lodge #706 F&AM. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel W. Vinson and Mattie Thigpen Vinson, sisters, Dorothy Martin, Margaret Gilliam, Ruth Burnett, brother, Sam F. Vinson. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Bailey Vinson, sons, Walter Eugene Vinson, Jr., Edward M. Vinson, sister, Betty Jones, numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be 11:30 A.M. Monday at Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Rev. Don Jones officiating with Military Honors with a Masonic Service following. Family will receive friends from 3-9 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Depat. 142, Memphis, TN. 38148 or the Alhambra Shrine Children’s Fund, 1000 Alhambra Dr.; Chattanooga, TN. 37421.
