    Penney - James Robert 'Jim', 82 of Chesterfield, South Carolina, diedthere October 5th. A native of Hamilton County, he was a son of the lateThomas M. and Sophronia Kerns Penney. He had lived in Chesterfield since1957 and was a retired supervisor at Burlington Industries with 40 yearsof service. He was of the Presbyterian faith.
    Survivors include his wife, Louise Davis Penney; son, James R. 'Jimmy'Penney, Jr. both of Chesterfield; daughter, Frieda L. Wolfe, Virginia;brother, Wilburn R. Penney, St. Petersburg, Florida; sister, Eveline B.Abernathy, Soddy-Daisy; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Services were October 8 at Chesterfield Presbyterian Church.     Thomas Penney, aged 74, died at his home here after an illness of a fewdays. The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock inthe Methodist Episcopal Church, conducted by the Reverend Carl Nichols,pastor of Soddy Church, and the Reverend J. L. Chaney of Chattanooga.Interment took place in the family burying ground near Soddy. He issurvived by his widow and eleven children and several brothers andsisters.

    Thomas married Sophronia G. Kearns on 29 Jan 1903.     Mrs. Sophronia Penney James 89, Soddy Tennessee, died Thursday at theresidence. She was a member of Soddy First Baptist Church. Survivingare three sons, Jess E. Penney, Soddy; James R. Penney, Chesterfield,South Carolina; Wilburn Penney, St. Petersburg, Florida; one daughter,Mrs. Blanche Abernathy, Soddy, with whom she resided; 10 grandchildren;several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:30 Saturdayfrom the Soddy First Baptist Church, conducted by the Reverend J. C.Noland and the Reverend J. v. Angel.
