Penney - Hiram Jackson, 82, of 1612 Thrasher Pike, Hixson, diedTuesday in a Chattanooga nursing home. He was the son of the late JamesT. and Louvenia Jackson Penney, a pioneer family of Hixson. He was amember of the Dividing Ridge Church of God. He was retired from HamiltonCounty Highway Department and Chattanooga Publishing Co. Survivorsinclude his wife, Vesta Gann Penney, Hixson; two sons, Harold and StancelPenney, both of Signal Mountain; brother Warren Penney, Red Bank; twosisters, Alta Hill and Ruth Harrawood, both of Hixson; four grandchildrenand three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Services willbe held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the ReverendJames T. Thorp and the Reverend Frank Rich officiating. Burial will bein the Dividing Ridge Church of God Cemetery. Arrangements by Williamsonand Sons Funeral Home, Soddy-Daisy.

Vesta Gann Penney, 85, of Thrasher Pike in Hixson, died Saturdaymorning at a local hospital. She was the daughter of the late Lewis andEva Laymon Gann and was a member of the Dividing Ridge Church of God.She was preceded in death by her husband, Hiram J. Penney. Survivorsinclude two sons, Harold and Stancel Penney of Signal Mountain; fourbrothers, Arnold, Baxter, Howard, and Leroy Gann all of Hixson; fourgrandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.Services will be held today a 2:30 p.m. at Williamson and Sons FuneralHome in Soddy-Daisy with the Reverend Frank Rich officiating. Intermentwill be in Dividing Ridge Cemetery.

J. Ard and JamesC. Henry officiating. Reverend Penney was a member of the Dividing RidgeChurch of God. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bertha Bice Penney,Hixson; three daughters, Mrs. Oscar Bice, Hixson; Mrs. K. R. Harrawood,Harrisburg, Illinois, and Mrs. Herbert Hill, Hixson; two sons, HiramPenney, Hixson and Warren Penney, Chattanooga; three brothers, M. P.Penney, Chattanooga; Lon Penney, Anderson, California and Albert Penney,Hixson; 16 grandchildren and 13 great great-grandchildren. Interment inHamilton Memorial Park. Active pallbearers; J. B. Penney, Evan Penney,B. T. Penney, Sherman Penney, Chester Penney and Wallace Angel. Honorarypallbearers will be members of the Bible Class of Dividing Ridge Churchof God. The body is at the residence. Funeral arrangements are incharge of J. Avery Bryan Co.

Christopher Columbus Penney, 83, died Friday morning at his home onthe Morrison Springs Road, following a lingering illness. He is survivedby his wife; seven sons, J.T., M.P., W.F., J.S., and A.G. Penney ofWilmington, North Carolina, and L.C. Penney, of Hawaii; two brothers,J.J. and J.P. Penney of Chattanooga; one sister, Margaret Pierce ofBirmingham. Funeral services will be held from the Soddy Church of Godat 11 o'clock Sunday morning, with the Reverend Mr. Ogle officiating.Interment in the Presbyterian Cemetery. The body will remain at theresidence until the funeral hour. Coulter's have charge.
