  [S16] Obituary. June 22, 1959 - March 7, 2014 Van Donald Newsom, Jr., 54, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away March 7, 2014. He was a member of the Rechoboth Baptist Church. Van had previously worked as a Custodian at Soddy-Daisy High School. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Greene Newsom; daughter, April Newsom; brothers, Sammy (Penney) Martin of Florida, Ronnie Newsom of Hixson; sister, Donna (Mark) Simmons of Dunlap; grandchildren, Gabriel Robinson, Jacob Robinson, C.J. Swiney and several nieces and nephews. The memorial service will be 6:00 P.M. Monday, March 10, 2014, at the Rechoboth Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Stewart officiating. Visitation is 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the family.
