  Obituary for JosephSherman Penney From: ChattanoogaTimes (pg 9) Monday,October 20, 1958 Penney - Joe S., 68, building contractor in the Goldpoint community anumber of years, died Saturday afternoon at his residence, Goldpoint,Hixson, Rt. 3. He is survived by three sons, B. T. Penney, Hixson, Rt.3; Murl Penney, Houston, Texas; Earl Penney, Chattanooga; four daughters,Mrs. Irma Holcomb, Hixson; Mrs. Wilma Tomlinson, Dallas, Texas; MissesEmma and Edra Penney, Hixson Rt. 3; four brothers, Jim and Albert Penney,Hixson; M. P. Penney, Chattanooga and Tom Penney, California; fourgrandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Burk's ChapelMethodist Church, the Reverends James C. Henry and Wallace Angelofficiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Garden Cemetery.Active pallbearers will be Sherman Penney, Chester Penney, Warren Penney,Ed Hendricks, B. W. Hardin and James Bice. Honorary pallbearers will beDr. N. S. Ritchie, Murl Phillips, Lawrence Hunter, Raymond Robinson, JimPainter, George Holcomb, Laymond Pendergrass, D. L. Hixson, Harry Brown,Tom Holcomb.
