Jerry W. Lewis, 68, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2014. He was of the Baptist faith and graduated from Hixson High School. Jerry served his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from
S & H Erectors as an Operating Engineer and was a member of the IUOE Local #917. Jerry was a flagman for both Boyd and Cleveland Speedway for over 20 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, C.L. and Katherine Burkhart Lewis.
Survivors include his wife, Janice P. Lewis; daughters, Leslie Eady Griffith of Ooltewah and Amy Eady Burkhart of Hixson; son, Jeremy (April) Lewis of Soddy-Daisy; brother, Jackie (Joyce) Lewis; grandchildren, Lauren (Dax) Serio, Mason Cantrell, Katelyn Helton and Wyatt Lewis.
Services will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Shane Craven officiating. Burial will follow at National Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will be Matt Murphy, Jackie Lewis, Jr., Tom Wadsworth, Raymond L. Bankston, Jr., Caleb Gilbert, Dax Serio and Jack Murphy. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Duncan and Raymond Lamar Bankston, Sr. Visitation will be on Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
