  [S16] Obituary. DUNLAP — Eschol Sims, 100, died Sunday, May 27, 2007, at a local retirement home where he resided. He worked in a sawmill and logged all his life. He loved playing his banjo and listening to bluegrass music. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mamie Nola Cooley Sims; sons, Haskel, Vestel, Lonnie and Chester Sims; daughters, Martha Verdena Brown and Lavina Sims; and grandson, Steve Sims. Survivors include his daughters, Estle (Roy) Newman, Loretta (Thomas) Ferguson and Bonnie (Arlandis) Harvey, all of Dunlap; sons, Ivan and Nevin Sims, of Dunlap; sisters, Essie (Loyd) Kershaw and Thelma (Joe) Swanger, of Chattanooga; 47 grandchildren ; 47 great-grandchildren ; 15 great-great-grandchildren ; several nieces and nephews; and very good friend, Ernie Hollow. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. CDT Wednesday in the Ewton Funeral Home chapel with Brother Dennis Boston officiating. Burial will be in Harvey Cemetery.
