August 18, 1928 - April 24, 2019 Erris Martin Reed went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 24, 2019.She was born to Roy & Ella Martin in Sale Creek, Tennessee on August 18, 1928. She attended Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee where she pursued the love of her life, John Reed. They were married at Sale Creek Presbyterian Church on September 9, 1950. She supported John through all of his studies in college, in seminary, and his Doctoral work. Erris was a sweet southern lady with a generous helping of sassy on the side. She spent her life loving and serving her husband and family – cooking for the whole bunch every Sunday, babysitting her grandchildren, spoiling each and everyone in the family. Erris loved Jesus and she was often heard singing hymns in the kitchen as she cooked. Her family always knew that she loved them and would do anything they needed. Her family loved her hugs, her smiles, her sense of humor, and her wisdom. She was faithful in big and small things, an amazing quality. During her long illness the words that were most often heard about her was that she was a tenacious, strong woman. She is survived by her husband John Reed, daughter Beth Hoover and spouse Jim, son-in-law Rod Beam and spouse Martha Beam, sisters Tina Martin, Faye Bolton and spouse Archie, and Zoe Green and spouse Maxie. Grandchildren are Jason Beam, Jana Powers, Julie Melville and spouse Ken, Katy Jungmann, Jordan Hoover, and Jill Bolin and spouse Eric. Great grandchildren are Dylan and Luke Powers, and Ty and Ellie Bolin. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and beloved daughter Becky Beam.We must live with eternity tucked into today’s reality.
