Dorothea “Dot” Simmons Broome, 92, of Hixson, Tennessee went home to be with Jesus Christ her Savior on Sunday, August 30, 2020. Dot was a faithful member (62 years) of Middle Valley Baptist Church, the Frances McClure Sunday School class, and the Sewing Group of Middle Valley Baptist Church.
Dot worked many years at Otasco and later retired from Food Max. Dot was a Past Worthy Matron of John Henry Pierce Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hamilton L. Broome, Sr.; parents, Carl and Hazel Simmons; and sisters, Faye (William) Johnson, Fern (Al) Slater and Polly (Johnny) Steave.
She is survived by her children, Hamilton (Skip) L. Broome, Jr. (Leisa), Eddie Broome (Patsy), Tim Broome (Susan), and Polly Ann Hamby (Mike); honorary children, Jimmy (Linda) Brown, Danny (Bunny) Burkhart; in-laws, Fletcher Broome, Ann Smith; as well as ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations can be made to Middle Valley Baptist Church (7901 Middle Valley Rd, Hixson, TN 37343.)
The family will receive friends and loved ones from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at the funeral home. Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mickey Bane, Dr. Robert Mounts, and Dr. Tom Goss presiding. Interment to follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
