Beatrice M. Brooks died on Monday, March 20, 2006, in a local nursing facility in East Ridge. She was 88 years old.
She was born in Dayton, TN, the daughter of the late Arthur N. Brooks and Mildred Brooks. She was the widow of James W. Brooks.
Mrs. Brooks was a member of Chamberlain Memorial Baptist Church. She was a longtime member and past president of the Belvoir Garden Club, through which she volunteered many hours at the Vine Street Orphanage, which was later called the Chambliss Children's Home.
For many years she worked for her father at the Arthur N. Brooks Studios.
She also worked as a volunteer at Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by her sons, James William Brooks Jr and his wife, Fran, of Lake Lure, N.C., Dr. Stephen A. Brooks and his wife, Carol, of Chattanooga, and David G. Brooks and his wife, Chris, of Lookout Mountain, GA; her grandchildren, James William Brooks III, of Birmingham, AL, David A. Brooks, of Graysville, TN, Mark S. Brooks, of Forney, TX, Christopher P. Brooks, of Pflugerville, TX, and Charles B. Brooks, of Macon, GA; her great-grandchildren, Jaxon A. Brooks, of Pflugerville, TX, Torin C. Brooks, of Pflugerville, Charles B. Brooks, of Macon, James A. Brooks, of Macon, Paige M. Brooks, of Forney, TX, Kourtny S. Grap, of Soddy-Daisy.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Jake E.
Carroll officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday before the service at the
East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chamberlain Memorial Baptist
Church Mission Fund at 4239 Benton Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37406.
