Carla Christian Blancett, 45, of Hixson, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2013. She was a lifetime resident of Chattanooga and a graduate of Soddy-Daisy High School. Carla also attended Chattanooga State where she was a cheerleader for the basketball team. Early on Carla pursued a career with Goodys Corporation and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee. Her lifelong best friend was her twin sister, Paula Christian Floyd. More than anything, Carla enjoyed spending time with her parents, children, number one and only grandson, Liam, and her family. Carla was a devoted mother to her beautiful children, Bethany and Jake. She considered her Delashmitt Road Baptist Church like her second family. Carla will forever be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Thomas Christian, Sr.
Survivors include her mother, Barbara “Faye” Christian; children, Bethany Blancett and Jacob Blancett; grandson, Liam Blancett; twin sister, Paula Christian Floyd (Austin); brother and his son Daniel and Aaden Thomas Christian, Jr. (Jill).; brother, Joey Geren IV; sister, Donna Christian Lowe (J. Marty); sister, Anna Christian; nieces and nephews, Brandon Reisman, Bailey Reisman, Mason Lowe and Alex Mitchell; the Blake Family and all extended family.
Services will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Delashmitt Road Baptist Church with the Honorable Judge Clarence Shattuck, Rev. Ronnie Smith and Carla’s brother–in-law, J. Marty Lowe officiating. Carla will lie in state from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Visitation is Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
