Obituary: Chattanooga Times Free Press Burton Cantrell Dodd, 80, went to be with the Lord on Good Friday, April 2, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. Burton had attended Bethel Baptist Church for almost 57 years. He retired from Combustion Engineering in 1988 with 37 years service. Burton was a son of the late Cantrell and Agnes Montgomery Dodd. He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Dodd; and brother Harold Dodd. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Doris Lewis Dodd; one daughter, Karen (Mike) Dodd Shelton, of Hixson; one brother, Carlon Dodd, of Macon, Ga.; two grandchildren, Josh (Amber) Shelton, of Ringgold, Ga., and Jessica Shelton, of Hixson; one great-grandson, Landon Shelton, of Ringgold, Ga.; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the fourth-floor trauma unit at Erlanger hospital, especially Dr. Mays, Dr. Eppihimer, Dr. Howell and nurses Kathy, Jessica, Stephanie, Michelle, Kristina, LeAnn, Arelis, Carey and staff. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel on Ashland Terrace with the Rev. Wilburn Hardyman and the Rev. Jon Weaver officiating. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. today and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace. Arrangements are by Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, TN.
