  [S16] Obituary. June 24, 1935 - December 15, 2009 Gene L. Bowman, 74, of Hixson passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at his residence. Gene retired from Combustion after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Alhambra Shrine, the Scottish Rite Society, Daisy Masonic Lodge #706 F&AM and Daisy Eastern Star Chapter 328. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Martin and Hester Savannah Bowman. Survivors include his wife, Pat Bowman of Hixson; children, Gina Barberee, Joe (Donna) Bowman, Cindy Brinkley and Robert Brinkley, all of Chattanooga and Julie Cossey of California; sister, Annie (Carl) Taylor; grandchildren, Jennifer (Brandy) Cooper; Jessica (Andy) Puryear and Tiffany (Jason) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Logan and Caden Puryear, Dillian and Daniel Johnson and Brannon Cooper. A Masonic funeral service will be held 12:00 Noon on Friday, December 18, 2009 in the Legacy Funeral Home Chapel performed by Daisy Masonic Lodge #706 F&AM. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM-8:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions are made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
