Robert (Bobby) Gravitt Jr., 73, of Soddy-Daisy, Tenn. passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009 surrounded by his loved ones. He was a devoted Christian, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and an inspiration to all those that knew him.
He is a native to the Soddy-Daisy area with being an alumnus of Soddy-Daisy High's class of 1954 and a long-time member of the Daisy Church of God and was employed by Dixie Souvenirs
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Gladys Gravitt; brothers, Olah and Odis Gravitt; and sister, Opal Harper.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jayna Lewis Gravitt; son, Michael Gravitt (Teresa Gravitt); daughter, Vicki Varner, all of Soddy-Daisy; grandchildren include: Jennifer Coleman (Johnathan Coleman), Tiffany Varner, Erica Gravitt, and Adam Gravitt; great-granddaughter, Adison Coleman; and step-grandchildren, Tabatha Hall, Mitchell Wheeler, Matthew McMinn, and Sierra Coleman.
The family will receive friends today at Williamson and Sons Funeral Home in Soddy-Daisy from 3-9pm. Funeral Services will be held at the Daisy Church of God on Friday, October 23rd, 2009 at 2pm with Dr. Jerry Goff, Bishop Sam Phillips, and Rev. Estle Sanders officating. Mr. Gravitt will lie in state from 12-2pm at the church before the service. Interment will follow the service at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
