Marlin Ellis “Rudy” Gibson, 62, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2014, at a local hospital. He was a member and deacon at Sequoyah Baptist Tabernacle where he had worked with the youth, sang in the choir, and was very involved in every aspect of the church. He had a servant’s heart, and helping at church was very important to him. He was an electrical engineer at TVA, and he taught school and coached at East Ridge High School. He was a faithful, devoted, and loving husband and father.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Martine Gibson; and brother, John Wayne Gibson.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Martha “Marty” Gibson; sons, Jonathan Andrew “Andy” (Tiffany) Gibson, Michael Joseph (Ashley) Gibson; brothers, David Gibson, and Fred Gibson; sisters, Rosa Hall, and Mary Wilson; grandchildren, Garrett Isaac Gibson, Kayla Elise Gibson, and Tyler Matthew Gibson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. David Stancil, Rev. Brooks Green, Rev. J.D. Gibson, and Rev. Rick Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at the funeral home.
