Penney - Will W. , 70, of 3111 Dodds Ave., died unexpectedly Fridaymorning in a local hospital. Mr. Penney, a lifelong resident of HamiltonCounty, was the son of the late Joe I. and Nancy Jane Spradling Penney.He was a retired employee of Combustion Engineering, Inc. Mr. Penney wasa member of the East Lake Baptist Church and of the Roy Wyrick SundayScohhl Class. He held membership in the East Lake Masonic Lodge 698 andin the Eastern Star Chapter 238.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruby Ruby Bennefield Penney,Chattanooga; two daughters, Mrs. Billie Jane Redden and Mrs. CathleenRedden, both of Soddy, Tennessee; two stepdaughters; Mrs. Charline Hill,Harriman, Tennessee and Mrs. Pauline Brooks, Decatur, Tennessee; twostepsons, Billy Brooks and Lloyd Brooks, both of Wilmington, NorthCarolina; two brothers, Ray Penney and Ed Penney, both of Chattanooga;four sisters, Mrs. Flora Smith, Chattanooga, Mrs. Anderson Green, Soddyand Mrs. Cleo Lee and Mrs. Andrew Chapin, both of Lansing, Michigan; and14 grandchildren. The body is at Turner Funeral Home. Arrangements willbe announced.

William married Mamie M. Clayton on 10 Jan 1918 in Hamilton County, Tennessee. Mamie (daughter of Thomas J. Clayton and Mary Jane Fox) was born on 18 Nov 1899 in McMinn County, Tennessee; died on 22 Feb 1945 in Soddy, Hamilton County, Tennessee; was buried on 26 Feb 1945 in Lovelady Cemetery, Soddy-Daisy, Hamilton County, Tennessee. Penney - Cliford, age 45, Soddy, Tennessee, was accidentally killed bya train early Saturday morning in Soddy. Survivors are four sons,William E., Thomas, Joe W., and Charles Penney, all of Chattanooga; onedaughter, Eloise Penney, Chattanooga; father, William Penney,Chattanooga; two sisters, Mrs. William Redden and Mrs. Claude Redden,Soddy. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the SoddyChurch of God, the Reverends Howard McGee and Ben Peacock officiating.Interment in Lovelady Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be John McGill, Lewis Penney, Allen Shelton,Earl Smith, Bob Murphy, Clarence Stedham. Honorary pallbearers: Sam andOdis Brumlow, Pete Irwin, Randolph and Clifford Smith, Jack Jenkins,Clyde Lovelady, Sim Eustis, Quince Barnes, Elmer Petty, James E. Doyle,Raymond and Elmer Redden, Emmett Gann, and Tom Evans. The body is at thefuneral home. Williamson-Garrison Funeral Home, Soddy, in charge.

Kathleen married Claude Thomas Redden on 1 May 1943. Claude (son of Elizabeth Redden) was born on 14 Jun 1922 in Soddy, Hamilton County, Tennessee; died on 10 Mar 1983 in Soddy-Daisy, Hamilton County, Tennessee; was buried in Hotwater Cemetery, Mowbray Mountain, Soddy-Daisy, Hamilton County, Tennessee.
