David Vandergriff, 75, of Hixson passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at a local hospital. He was retired from Combustion Engineering after 30 years of service and worked in landscaping for 13 years. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He was a lifetime member of the International Association of Machinist Local 56. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Nina Vandergriff, brothers, Bill Vandergriff, Garnett Vandergriff, Jack Vandergriff, sisters, Audra Payne, Marjorie Shipley.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Qualls Vandergriff of Hixson, son, Douglas Vandergriff of Abingdon, VA., daughter, Sharon Vandergriff Potter of Hixson, brother, Joe Vandergriff, sister, Lois V. Lewis, grandchildren, Mark Potter, Brian Potter, Jenny Potter, Sarah Vandergriff, Rachel V. Robinson, great-grandchild, Jordan Potter.
Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Mike Combs and the Rev. Curtis Henderson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Friendship Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5-9 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.williamsonandsons.com.
