  [S16] Obituary. William Fred Smith April 19, 1927 - July 6, 2010 William Fred “Bill” Smith, 83, of Soddy Daisy, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 6, 2010. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Navy with the Seabee’s in the Philippines. He retired after 41 years from Signal Mountain Cement. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, B.E. and Estella Ritchie Smith, brother J.C. “Lucky” Smith and daughter Billie Diane Buchholz. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Alma Loretta Ledford Smith; daughter, Linda (Buck) Smith; son, Terry (Peggy) Smith; sister Betty (John) Day; brother Bob (Susie) Smith; brothers-in-law, Jimmy, John, Mike and Cam Ledford; sisters-in-law June Gipson and Cathy Camp; grandchildren Mark Buchholz, Mindy Simons, Penny Mahon, Jamie Dent and Scott Smith along with 5 great grandchildren. Special thanks to Lisa, Nicole and Ashley of Caris Healthcare and Dr. Donald Ziegler and Mr. Bill’s personal attendant Molly Cox. Funeral service will be Friday, July 9, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mark Harwood officiating. Interment will follow the service at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
