Penney - Mrs. Nancy J., 77, 3307 Lamar Ave., Red Bank Tennessee, diedin a Chattanooga Hospital early Sunday morning. She was the daughter ofthe late, William R. and Sarah T. Underwood Jones, pioneer settlers ofnorth Hamilton County. She was the widow of George W. Penney who died inMay 1967. Mrs. Penney was a member of the Middle Valley Church of God.Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. James Maybery, Red Bank and Mrs.Frances Clift, Red Bank; two sons, John L. Penney, Chattanooga, and MosePenney, Soddy; five brothers, John Jones, Soddy, Frank and Sam C. Jones,Chattanooga, Charlie Jones, Hixson, the Reverend Lloyd Jones, Cleveland,Tennessee; five sisters, Mrs. Will Howard, Smyrna, Georgia, Mrs. S. O.Loftis, Hixson, and Mrs. Ethel Whitlock, Chattanooga, Mrs. Alfred Miller,Soddy, and Miss Mattie Jones, Chattanooga; 12 grandchildren; severalnieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of thefuneral home, conducted by the Reverends Jack Pharr, Lloyd Brown andArvin Johnson. Interment will follow in Hamilton County Memorial ParkCemetery. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Bobby Clift, LarryClift, Bobby Cope, Ralph Penney, Robert Penney and Harold Penney.Honorary pallbearers well be Russell Penney, L. W. Hunter, Herbert (Buck)Clift, John Walker, Ralph Baxter, Reese (Butch) Clift, J. O. Porter, RoyBenton, Lloyd Beene, Dr. Preston McDow, Clarence Webb, S. O. Nelson,James Nelson, Floyd Dodd; Homer Walker, John Miller, and the Adult SundaySchool Class of the Middle Valley Church of God. The body will remaintat the funeral home.
