Penney - Mrs. Harriet Jane, 76, of 1815 Watauga St., Chattanooga, diedin a Chattanooga hospital Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Penney was the widowof Joe Penney and the daughter of the late Arthur Susan and EmeryHarding, pioneer settlers of North Hamilton County. Survivors are fourdaughters, Mrs. Irma Holcomb, Hixson; Miss Edra Penney, Hixson; Mrs.Emma Tucker, Rossville, Georgia; Ms. Wilma Tomlinson, Tyler, Texas; threesons, Murl Penney, Waco, Texas; Earl Penney, Rossville, B T. Penney,Hixson; two sisters, Mrs. Leola Rice, Soddy; Mrs. Mary Carroll, Soddy;two brothers, Arthur Harding, Nashville; Roy Harding, Illinois; 19grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of the funeralhome with the Reverend H. Duane Highlander officiating. Interment willfollow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be B. W.Harding, James Bice, Lloyd Carroll, Steve Lewis, Ronnie Huston, ShermanPenney. The body is at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Williamsonand Sons, Highway 27, Soddy-Daisy.
