From her humble beginnings in Cumberland, Kentucky, to her world travels, Joe Ann Wilkerson Griffith was the epitome of a confident woman devoted to her family. As the most generous person you could have ever met, you were never hungry, thirsty, cold or not entertained in her presence. She was selfless, determined and Godly resulting in the upbringing of three beautiful children that each carry on a piece of her legacy; the family motto: ‘the path to accomplishing every goal begins with a strong cup of black coffee.’ As a Grandmother, ‘Mamaw’ is remembered reinforcing the tradition of hard work and patience while raising the most delicious fruits and vegetables, stemming the best Tomato sandwich recipe in existence. She was an economizing Fashionista that showered her friends, family and those in need with gifts ranging from the latest Polo shirt designs to fine European Chocolates in a quest to provide a taste of what the world offers. Her neighbors over the years constantly saw her in the flower beds with a Sun hat on, pruning and fertilizing the Knockout Roses that she planted over three decades ago. She was a giver of life, love, happiness and joy taking on the challenges of each day and living by her favorite quote:
“Take the time to be thankful for what you have and to share what you have with others. For every act of kindness is like a prayer to God.”
Joe Ann Griffith was a gift to this world and her fruitful spirit will remain in every cup of black coffee, Tomato sandwich, Polo shirt and Knockout Rose to those who were fortunate to have known her.
Spouse: Oscar Griffith, deceased. Preceded in death by parents: Thomas Evan Wilkerson and Carolyn Dyer Wilkerson, and son: Oscar Thomas “Tommy” Griffith. Survived by daughters: Melissa Griffith Reasor and spouse Steven Reasor, and Bridget Griffith Negrete and spouse Nefi Negrete. Grandchildren: Clifton Reasor and wife Kendra Smyth Reasor of Charlotte, NC, Ann Marie Reasor of Wildwood, GA, John Reasor of Stillwater, OK, Logan Griffith and Alyssa Griffith of Hixson, TN, Olivia Negrete and Jack Negrete of Cincinnati, OH.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Reece Fauscett officiating. Visitation is 12:00P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Sunday .
