August 17, 1933 - August 9, 2016
Carlos Ray Wilson, born August 17, 1933 entered the Church triumphant August 9, 2016, he was a life-long resident of Hamilton County. Ray was a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean War, serving in Korea, Japan and Vietnam. He was one of the original five police officers of the Soddy Daisy Police Department. Ray was a member of the Hamilton County Highway Department for thirty six years. In 1965, Ray was recognized by Hamilton County for saving the life of a drowning teenager at Armstrong Bridge. He was an enthusiastic and dedicated coach for both youth and adult sports. Ray selflessly volunteered his time over three decades as a coach for softball, baseball and football in various leagues in Hamilton County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Houston and Mary Ruth Wilson; brother, Don Wilson; sister-in-law, Shirley Wilson; Brother-in-law, Gene Morris and brother-in-law, Ed Henderson.
Ray is survived by his wife, Freda Wilson; a son, Jeff Wilson; a daughter-in-law, Natalie Wilson and a granddaughter, Alexandra Wilson. He is also survived by a brother, Tom (Nelda) Wilson; a sister, Wanda Morris; a sister, Marilyn Henderson; a brother, Leslie Wilson and a sister-in-law, Wanda Wilson.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with the Honorable Judge Clarence Shattuck and Reverend Louisa Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton County Memorial Park with Military Honors. Visitation is 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
