Herbert E. “Cotton” Miller, 87, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2016. He was a graduate of Soddy Daisy High School and a member of the Daisy First Baptist Church. Gene served in the United States Navy from 1945-1971 and retired at the Rank of Chief Petty Officer. He later retired from the Hamilton County Government after thirteen years of service. He was an avid golfer and a lifetime member of the Montlake Golf Course. He was also a fan and supporter of University of Tennessee Athletics.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ruby Miller; two brothers, Ralph Miller and Cecil Miller and a grandson, Corey Mullinix.
Gene is survived by his wife of sixty one years, Mabel Miller; his daughters, Sandra Pollard, Freda Miller, Jeanine (Randy) Mullinix, Carole Miller; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, with another one on the way.
Services will be 12:30 P.M. Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Wilburn Hardyman officiating. Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation is Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
