James M. “Jack” Mitchell, 94, of Hixson, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 26, 2015. He was born in Rhea County and was a long time resident of Hixson. He was a member of the Sale Creek First Baptist Church. Jack was preceded in death by his first wife of 57 years, Oma Lee McClendon Mitchell; parents, Arch and Marchie Bledsoe Mitchell; sisters, Ada, Mary Ann and Bess; brothers, Walter, George, Burch, Paul and Arch; great granddaughter, Missy; great-great grandson, Grayden, both tragically lost to domestic violence.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Lucille Seals Mitchell; daughters, Doris Jean Holmes (Don) and Bess E. Johnson (Carl); granddaughters, Nina, Donna, Barbara and Cathy; grandsons, Jimmy and Jeff; 14 great grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; brother, Miles N. Mitchell.
Services will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Caleb Bolten officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Visitation is on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and 1 hour prior to service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family gives a very special thanks to the staff of Soddy-Daisy Health Care Center for the kindness and special care given to Mr. Mitchell and the family.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or your favorite charity.
