Alton Lebron “Scrap” Ledford, 81, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at home. He was retired from DuPont, and he was a US Army and Korean War veteran. He was a member of the Mowbray Baptist Church for 18 years. He loved to work and stay busy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Ruth Ledford; and sister, Doris R. Messanger.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Eloise Ledford of Soddy-Daisy; son, Jeffrey Ledford of Chattanooga; brother, James Ledford of Chapel Hill, TN; sisters, Katherine Roark of Red Bank, and Mary R. Duppenthaler of Lake Placid, FL; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 20, 2013, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Ray Dodson and Rev. Lannie Tate officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105, in “Scrap’s” memory. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Bill Moore Smith and Dr. Alexander Stratienko. Visitation is 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, December 19, at the funeral home.
