  [S16] Obituary. July 11, 1924 - February 17, 2012 Roy E. Eldridge, 87, of Chattanooga, died Friday, February 17, 2012. Mr. Eldridge was a farmer, retired minister, rural mail carrier, and Lieutenant with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department. He was an outstanding athlete at Soddy-Daisy High School and University of Chattanooga. He was an avid University of Tennessee and Atlanta Braves fan. His knowledge of the Bible was vast, having committed to memory entire books, chapters and verses. He was preceded in death by his parents, Davis and Willie Mae Eldridge, brother, J.D. Eldridge. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Norma Minnis Eldridge, sons, Roy Jr. (Jane) Eldridge, John (Amy) Eldridge, Daniel (Dianeice) Eldridge, daughter, Anna (Jerry) Stallings, brother, William G. Eldridge, 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Don Kelley and the Rev. Grady Davidson officiating. Entombment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 5-8 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the compassionate staff of Hospice of Chattanooga and the medical personnel who cared for him the last years of his life.
