  [S16] Obituary. October 5, 1936 - September 19, 2011 Alan C. “Pete” “Turtleman” Starnes, 74, of Sale Creek passed away Monday, September 19, 2011 at his home. He was a member of Sale Creek First Baptist Church. He retired from Asbestos Workers Union Local 46. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Hildred Starnes. He is survived by his children, Larry Starnes, Tony (Becky) Starnes, Teresa Bond, Lisa Green, Dale (Tina) Starnes, Derrick Starnes, sister, Lib Sims, 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, in the chapel of Morris Baker Funeral Home in Johnson City, TN with the Rev. Richard Bawgus officiating. Interment will follow the service at Monte Vista Burial Park. Family will receive friends from 4-9 P.M. Tuesday at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home and from 6-8 P.M.
