  [S16] Obituary. June 26, 1924 - June 17, 2011 Gid Hughes, 86, of Soddy-Daisy, TN, passed away, Friday, June 17, 2011. He attended the Daisy Church of God. Gid served in the United States Navy during World War II, and was a Naval Gunner on a Merchant Marine Ship. He later retired from ABB Combustion Engineering as an Electrician. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and was a member of the Daisy Masonic Lodge 706 F&AM for fifty six years and was a Past Master of the Lodge. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter & Gertrude Hughes of Soddy-Daisy; two brothers, Ross Hughes and Foster Hughes and one sister, Katherine Hughes Browning. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Kathleen Morgan Hughes of Soddy-Daisy; sisters, Bertie (Bobby) Weathers of Florida, Lennie (Sam) Heard of Soddy-Daisy, Jessie Odom of Brighton, TN, Marie (John) Stuart, of Soddy-Daisy, Shirley ( Sam) Williams of Sale Creek and several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, June 20, 2011, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home, with his great nephew, Rev. Scott Curtis officiating; a Masonic service will follow along with a eulogy by Jim Ables. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Visitation with his family will be 2:00 TO 8:00 Sunday at the funeral home. The Daisy Masonic Lodge 706 F&AM will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
