John Wesley Gentry, 86, of Sale Creek, TN, passed away Friday, November 1, 2013. He was a member of the Sale Creek United Methodist Church. John was a United States Army Veteran, serving during World War II, he retired from the Hamilton County Board of Education and was a former employee of the Home Store.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ilene Gentry; parents, Efurt and Ila Gentry; and brothers, Jack, Ed, Bo, Junior, Arnold and Robert.
He is survived by three sons, Phillip Gentry, Gary Gentry and Joseph Gentry; four sisters, Ruth Barrentine, Lola Rayland, Kelly Gates and Imogene Davis; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 4, 2013, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home, with Reverend Cecil Baxter officiating. Interment will follow in Welsh-Rogers Cemetery. Visitation is 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Sunday and after 12:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
