Vesta Gann Penney, 85, of Thrasher Pike in Hixson, died Saturdaymorning at a local hospital. She was the daughter of the late Lewis andEva Laymon Gann and was a member of the Dividing Ridge Church of God.She was preceded in death by her husband, Hiram J. Penney. Survivorsinclude two sons, Harold and Stancel Penney of Signal Mountain; fourbrothers, Arnold, Baxter, Howard, and Leroy Gann all of Hixson; fourgrandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.Services will be held today a 2:30 p.m. at Williamson and Sons FuneralHome in Soddy-Daisy with the Reverend Frank Rich officiating. Intermentwill be in Dividing Ridge Cemetery.Vesta married Hiram Jackson Penney on 30 Jun 1923 in Hamilton County, Tennessee. Hiram (son of James Thomas Penney and Nancy Louvina Jackson) was born in in Hamilton County, Tennessee; died on 27 Aug 1985 in Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Tennessee; was buried on 29 Aug 1985 in Dividing Ridge Church of God Cemetery, Soddy-Daisy, Hamilton County, Tennessee.
